Ratking "Wastelander"

Once again, let's sail distant seas and have a look of what's going on the other side of the globe.
Terminus: Perth, Australia, known for being the most remote city on earth (they say).
One more bright proof that hardcore gems can blossom out of anywhere.
Gem? Yes, M'am. Pure diamond. No kiddin'.
When I first read the raving review about the Wastelander EP on SWNK, I slightly rose my eyebrows.
Instant classic? Blatant overestimation?
Well, after just ONE listening, I got badly trapped. And listened to it for the all summer.
So, as the hairy stinking French used to say: "Chapeau l'artiste".
Musically, it is a bit hard to describe, because the EP mixes several types of hardcore: mid-tempo, melodic, fast songs, heavy parts, nervous ones, etc...
But if Wastelander manages to escape classification is for the best of all reasons:
forget about the style(s), just get focused on what really matters in hardcore: ENERGY!!!
Pure, simple, direct energy, dripping from those songs like from the Youth Fountain itself. Skillfully controlled and funneled to reach your brain with optimized power. Which proves you don't have to sound like obese metallic thunderstorms to kick ass.
You may find some similarity with Trash Talk (especially the eponymous track). But Ratking doesn't really play the same league, and you can't compare Hannah Montana with L7. So, after a few listenings, you'll do the same as me: delete your Trash Talk mp3, and get focused on the real thing: "Wastelander", by Ratking.
