Shotgun Killa "Esporro"

From Brazil, 4 songs of pure classical hardcore, tough-guys-style.
You have the "Killa" in the name, the base ball bats in the picture, the nasty looks, the tatoos, so it is useless to say that kidding would not be an option, ok?
I usually don't really like this kind of hardcore, mainly because its focus on pure power sometimes leads to boring music as power doesn't do everything, and over-producing the music is not always enough to give it the strength it should have per se. I also confess that the bad boy attitude only makes sense when boys are really bad.

But I downloaded the EP, out of curiosity, mainly because I would like to know how would sound fresh new hardcore in the brazilian context.
Verdict: this EP just kicks ass.
I listen to it on and on, and I don't get tired.
As expected, it is made of huge riffs, quite a lot of double-kick, coarse voice, moshing parts and choral singing. They cite Terror and Madball as influences, so it can give a clue about what the songs sound like.
But beware, because these 4 songs are phat, phat tracks. I would even say phatter than the above-mentioned bands. The production is clearly steroïd-driven. But as the songs structures are a bit more complex than the usual street hxc, as the singer doesn't pretend to be pissed off, and as the groove is definitely here, the production serves to highlight the inherent power of the compositions. And that is why you end up with a short but efficient hardcore bomb, 90's spirit but really well done.
